Soapwort - Saponaria officinalis
I got this dainty looking thing last summer and forgot about it til the other day when I saw the lovely pink pompoms. They are supposed to be attractive to moths.
On another note, if anyone wants any Knautia macedonica or once again Lily of the valley! I have a couple of pots going a begging. I hope to go to Mount Venus tomorrow but as its the little fellas birthday, I have some bribing to do first!

I think I have a problem
I took my own advice yesterday and went to the plant sale at Listoke, even though I was really supposed to be somewhere else. Us gardeners just can't resist a plant sale! And I was very bold. At 3 plants for a tenner, what is any gardener supposed to do? I don't know if there will be anything left there today.........

Sign at Listoke, but it should be safe this weekend!
FANTASTIC PLANT SALE OF FILM LOCATION PLANTS
On Sat. & Sun. 10th & 11th of Sept., from 11am - 6pm, there will be a sale of all the wonderful herbaceous plants used on the set of the new Asterix film - starring Gerard Depardieu - which was recently filmed on location at Listoke Gardens, Ballymakenny Road, Nr. Drogheda - owned by Patricia Barrow. The plants were all brought in by the film company from top Irish nurseries including Mount Venus. They are all lovely big plants, many are unusual, and they will be selling at around half their normal retail price, in aid of Somalian Famine relief. Nicky Kyle has grown some unusual salad and winter tunnel veg. plants which will also be on sale for famine relief on the day. Entry to the sale will be just 5 euros per car (no matter how many are in it!) which includes tea and coffee, and there will also be delicious organic cakes on sale. Visitors will be able to walk around the lovely gardens and view all the locations for the film. We're naturally hoping to raise as much as possible for this very worthwhile cause, so we would be really grateful if you could tell all your friends too. Bring a carload and have a great day out! For directions phone Patricia Barrow on 086 1709258.
