Miniature Rose

Picked up a pot of Miniature roses at the florist this morning for €1! When I looked closely I saw that it was actually 4 separate cuttings so I think I'll try splittling them up and putting them around the base of a shrub. Now just have to decide which one.....

Magnolia stellata, in my mother's garden. Wish it was in mine!

Fur and silk!

Isn't it amazing how these gorgeous silky flowers burst out of these furry buds?

Also loved the violets at Bellefield - didn't know they came in Peach!

Kittentails

Spotted this at Bellefield and meant to ask what it was but then forgot to. Then I came accross it today through a comment made by Jimi Blake on Facebook and I think it may be Mountain Kittentails, Synthyris missurica. Anyone familiar with this plant? I love the lilac of the flowers, which seem to be very like Muscari.

Primulas

Primlas

I dug up these clumps of Primulas from my Mams garden and hope to plant them out tomorrow in the shadier spots, especially in the Butterfly and Bee border. I noticed a lovely lavender one also which must be a cross of these yellow and purple ones, but I haven't convinced her to give me that one yet!

I also got another bare-root delivery from Future forests and can't wait to get stuck into that.

Jeffersonia

Jeffersonia

It took me a little while to figure out what this was as it never had a label and seemed to disappear as soon as I planted it last autumn. When the first leaves started to appear I thought maybe it was an aquilegia but they were too red for that. I've looked in the Mount venus catalogue which is where I think I got it and the only one they have listed is Jeffersonia dipphylla which has white flowers and this one seems to have lilac flowers so I've come to the conclusion that it must be Jeffersonia dubia. I really should keep better records and label things! I don't think the leaves stay this colour but its a pretty little thing at the moment.
