Mystery bird

Mystery bird

Can anyone identify this bird please? it came into the garden 2 weeks ago and sat on one of the raised beds for about 10 mins opening and closing its beak. It allowed Graham to go to within 10 feet of it before it flew away. It is bigger than a Finch / wagtail about the size of a blackbird. I will put a few pics in an album it may be easier to see.

Kylemore Abby

We had some friends over from UK last weekend and we took them to Connemara and while there we just had to visit Kylemore Abby, the walled gardens are just beautiful. I think we were just a little bit too early for the Rhododendron not too many of them were in flower. I have added some pics of the visit.

Geranium's

Geranium's

Last October I planted about 90 little geranium plants inside the front wall and after the winter we had I did not expect any of them to survive as they were small and the ground is not great near the wall, I am delighted to see that almost all have survived. I put some new earth with compost added around them on Sat ( that was when I counted them) and they should look good when they flower against the white wall.

Amaryllis

My Amaryllis which flowered at Christmas last year has still not flowered this year, it has produced a stem which is now 31 ins long and still growing. I followed instructions I got on the internet which said to put the root in the bottom of the fridge for 8 weeks in October then pot it up and it would start to grow again, It has a flower bud for weeks now but seems to be taking ages to open, Just took this pic tonight
