It rained for most of the day today which was really needed here in the midlands but this evening the sun did shine for a while and we now have the most wonderful sunset. I took these pics about 10 mins ago while listening to the cuckoo singing her little heart out

The non flowering Chrysant

The non flowering Chrysant

I have a chrysanthemum in a pot that I got as a gift a few months ago. When I got it first it had lovely yellow flowers, when all the flowers died I moved it to the toilet window and it has grown about a foot or more but has never flowered again, does anyone have any tips on how I can get it to flower. I did think of planting it in the garden.

It is such a busy time in the garden

Between going to my parents and also keeping up with the work here in the garden I have not written anything for a while. The garden is really coming on with all this lovely weather, we finished the 2 new beds near the pond, just need the new plants to grow now and they will look lovely. The first water lily came out this week . I have added a photo album tonight showing the garden up to date.I also added some pics of my attempt at tumbling pots, they will look nice when the flowers come on I hope!

Rocket, looking and smelling great right now

Rocket, looking and smelling great right now

Was back in Dublin today and went to Homebase to get some bedding plants, I promised my brother and sister-in-law I would do their patio pots for them. They had a great selection in Homebase I settled for some bizzy lizzy, a tray of 30 plants for €3.50 and they were lovely plants a little bit smaller than what you usually get but they will grow!!.. I got a few trays for our own pots in Roscommon as well.

My Fav arrangement

My Fav arrangement

We went to Bloom on Thursday, beautiful weather. I loved the walled veg garden everything is so neat and perfect. I was bit disappointed with the show gardens, too much hardscaping and not enough planting( personal opinion)I liked the garden with the Igloo it had some nice planting. I would have liked to have seen some Topiary.......I thought the flower arrangements were excellent...

We did get some nice plants for the Roscommon garden, we have finished preparing the second new bed, I will add some pics when I have it planted.

We had a nice surprise this evening when Graham was watering the little alpines on the rocks around the pond he spotted the tiniest little frog you ever saw, he was no bigger than my finger nail, I guess he is one of the tadpoles that have been in the pond since March, there are still lots of them in there so I am expecting to see lots of little frogs in the coming days.I did not have time to get the camera before he disappeared under a log,I am sure I will get one before they are all gone.

Hope everyone has a nice bank holiday weekend :) ......
