Peppers

Got this pic today of the pepper in the glasshouse it is coming on nicely, I have never grown any before so it is a real trill to see it getting bigger.... I put some tomato feed on them this evening and they are well watered... I also took off some of the flowers to give the rest of them a chance to grow, so I am hoping for a good crop...

Holiday is over.... I need to get back to the garden again... our visitors have gone home. The new arrival

This is the new arrival in our garden, she will reside next to the ducks by the pond. It will take a while for her feathers to grow but even without them she stands tall........

Bought these 2 cacti in Lidil last week for €12.99 each. Opuntia indica and Echinocactus grusonii. Bit of a bargain at that size....

Strange insect

Strange insect

Strange insect

This insect appeared in our garden this afternoon, there are I would think a few hundred of them and they are only on the black gate going into the yard on the back and front of the gate. When you get near the gate they fly around then land again as soon as you go away. They are a little bigger than a greenfly and a vivid yellow color, has anybody any idea what they are? I have looked on the internet but cannot find anything matching.....

Cucumber

looking good

It is very windy in Roscommon today, we spent the morning tying in plants as everything in our garden is only up to 3 years old there is more risk of damage especially to the plants put in this year. Just listened to the forecast on RTE and we can expect winds up to 100km that is almost unheard of for this time of year. Took the camera with me when I went out this morning will put up a recent album. I am adding a pic of our first cucumber with this journal... v proud of this as I have never grown a cucumber before

No more falling arches......

sorry site

The arch 2 weeks ago

The arch 2 weeks ago

When I arrived down to Roscommon this evening I was met with a sorry site,  the arch into the Haggard has been blown over. It must have been v windy here last few days. Graham had bedded the arch in concrete it should have been secure. The roses are half way up on both sides I had a look and they do not seem to be damaged, but I will have to wait till Graham comes down tomorrow night before I attempt to lift the arch, it is a 2 person job. It is raining heavy tonight so I hope they will be ok.
