Glasshouse watering set up

We had to set up a new watering system in the glass house today that will keep everything watered for 2 weeks... first thing we had to do was take everything out,  I set up some containers on the floor to hold water for my seedlings.I also set up capillary matting on the stages and large bottles of water to feed the matting. We put some shading on the glasshouse as well to cut out some of the sun. Can't wait to get everything planted out and not have to worry about keeping everything moist when I am not there.

While we had the glasshouse empty we decided to finally get the vine out of its pot and planted it with its roots outside and the rest inside the glasshouse. I am posting a few photos from today which might make sense of what I have just said.

Blarney Castle Prunus Shirotae

Just at the entrance to Blarney Castle there is the most beautiful tree (Prunus Shirotae) which we fell in love with ...well last weekend we bought one, and while it will take years to reach the size of the one in Blarney, we love it already.

Farmleigh yesterday

11 April 2012 13:20:35

It is very busy in Farmleigh right now, lots of potting on to be done .. yesterday we filled up the window boxes, which will be placed at various locations around the estate. Ann (Ellis) and myself took time out to walk down to the lake to see the two beautiful swans that are there at the moment. I have added some photos that were taken yesaterday to an album called (Farmleigh) For anyone that has never been to Farmleigh it is well worth a visit...it is a magical place

Some of you may remember I put up a journal about 3 weeks ago about a nest box we put in the garden. Today I noticed some activity around it. I sat with  the binoculars  for a while watching it and it looks like we have a pair of great tits making a nest in it.... we are chuffed and will be watching with interest.
