My shallots are doing well. But I'm not sure when they will be ready for harvesting. I think I have a bit of reading to do tonight.

A dry day, at last.

Finally lifted the lid off the mushrooms. Have to move them somewhere cooler now for a while. The garage is an ideal spot for them. The lid is now suspended about 1 1/2 inches on all four corners for ventilation.

I have to spray the compost lightly daily.

This is getting exciting.

I'm off to bed now. Knackered from doing nothing much today. Oh!Maybe it was all the housework. Ha ha. Not used to it. Gnite everybody. Happy dreams!

I think I killed my bay tree. I had it in a concrete container in the shade. Quite a windy site, too. But over the course of the winter, I kind of neglected its need for watering. Its leaves started turning brown a couple of weeks ago. So I decided a glazed container would be much better for holding on to much-needed moisture.

However, today, while we were in Ratoath, they had a half-price sale on pots. I actually prefer the look of terracotta. So we got a good big one. Steve lined it with heavy-duty plastic to help with water retention. I also moved it to where it will get the benefit of full sun. It looks a bit sad right now. But hopefully, if I keep watering it regularly, I can just about rescue it.

It would be a shame to waste €85 just because I didnt water it enough. And you know this rubbish about us being in a 'recession'. Ha ha. There could NEVER be a recession in a garden. Not mine, anyway.
