this weed is growing in my neighbours garden, it came in soil he got, it spreads under the
ground and has nodules that are like potatoes when you break them.

ST, FIACHRAS.
in contrast to the japanese gardens, i really like this garden as its so natural so therefore
no gardening required, it just does what it does. and does it well just like the national stud

the better bit.
I made a visit today to the Japanese gardens, its been a long time since i was their, i remember Mary and Paddy posted a journal a good time ago and they were not impressed and neither was i, very much neglected plants and the amount of gaps left with plants missing everywhere, the hostas were slug destroyed in parts of the garden, and such cheap planting, as most of the walk is in shade their may be limits to the planting scheme. but the administraters of this high profile tourist venue, should be ashamed.! at 12 euro 50 to enter for a single adult, and the picnic tables outside were being totally disturbed by a very noisy mower cutting away through the familys having their picnics with children about, it has to be ran by politicians, it sure aint gardeners!

irish wildflower collection.
Had a look at the irish wildflower collection of paintings, that were used over the years on our irish stamps, i always thought they were of the highest standards, and i always enjoyed them, so while i was in the botanic gardens today i could not resist and for me, i really enjoyed seeing the originals.

cream spot ladybird.
seen this little visitor today in my garden, its the first one i have seen in my own garden,
the creamspot ladybird munching away on my ample supply of aphids. And what a super
day it was too.

SLUGS,,,,, the final solution.
i came across this latest solution for our slimy friends, it seems a great idea if it works and it does seem to make good sense, have any of you tried this? and if so, how did it preform? it mulches the plant, feeds it and prevents slug damage, it does not blow away, it prevents weeds also.

beaulieu house and plant fair.
i attended this plant fair today, not a great day for it as the winds gusted and not much
sun. it cost 7.50 to enter, their were a lot more people than i thought, regarding stands
their were about 30. interesting plants on show but nothing surprising, the walled garden was excellent, but i will revisit on a "summers day" to experience it the way it deserves. they were charging 10 euro to tour the house and car musuem which i thought was unfair as you paid 7.50 already, 5 euro was the fairer price i thought. so i did not enter the house. the people on the stands were busy trying to stop their plants from being blown over. all in all it was enjoyable enough, i will put up an album of the walled garden, i dont have names for the plants, so sorry. but it will give those who have not seen it before an idea of the place. beaulieu means "beautiful place". and is on a sunny day.
