Mount Congreve 31st August 2013

Just a reminder to anybody who is free this week-end and would love a visit to a garden to end the Summer, well Mount Congreve is open on Saturday 31st and is well worth a visit. The walled garden is at its best in late summer and it gives a glimps of a time that has disappeared. If you go I am sure you will enjoy and will not be disappointed.

Has anyone on the site seen the pop-up garden in Dublin, if so would they kindly put up a few photos of it. It is to be in place for the next month. I also heard of a public space that has been created along the Luas line near Smithfield, opposite 'The Dice Man' bar, if anyone has photos of either garden would love to see them.

Garden Still Flowering In This Great Weather.

Hydrangea 'Pink Annabelle'

With the great weather this summer the garden just continues to flower its socks off. The roses have started on their second flush of flowers and the late flowering plants are at their best at present. It is great to see the agapanthus and crimum doing  well in the late summer sunshine. The weather is expected to last for the week-end so a great time for visiting gardens. Have put up an album of photos that Paddy took of  flowers that are looking good today.

Visited the garden of Walter Kelly near Enniscorthy last week end and it was outstanding. Will put up an album to share this beautiful garden with you and if you are in the area over the next few weeks a visit is a must.

Mount Congreve gardens were open today, a dull overcast but dry day for the most part, and a walk around was very enjoyable.

We also have the good news that the gardens will be open each Thursday, 10a.m. - 4p.m. and there is no charge for admission.

In the woodland gardens the hydrangea walk is the highlight at the moment - several hundred yards of hydrangea-bordered walks. The walled gardens are coming to their peak at the moment also and will continue to improve for the rest of the season.

Our visit this morning started off with us dropping off a plant to a friend at the garden and then collecting some plants from him. Then, as always, we met friend after friend as we walked around so my photographs were snapped on the run but I hope they will give you a glimpse of what it is like there at the moment.
