March and May

I mainly find that both March and May have two weeks of good weather and two weeks of bad, but april is nearly here so hold your hat on for that could give us anything.

Look at this pic that I took today of some swans that landed in the field beside us and grazed for several hours before continuing on their route. i was glad that they did not land in our garden and eat the gold fish.

Ten cubis feet of well seasoned oak

I was visiting a friend two days ago and asked then what they did with their lovely wooden fireplace. Oh it is outside they said while looking proudly at a new solid fuel burner, so I asked if I could have it and half a struggling hour later four of us manhandled it into the car. Today I asked a joiner who I have known for years to tell me what wood it was and I was told without hesitation that it was Irish Oak, and after another closer look he confirmed it, and told me that it would cost at least 200 euro to buy, if one was lucky enough to come upon it.

The timber was what I got in my winter pruning, so the whole project cost nothing

This is the turves relaid after the area has been raised on a slope up to 18 inches. I will be planting ferns in the two raised beds either side of the raised grass path.

Raise the lawn 3

Here you see me dumping 30 year old dung, which I mixed with poor clay. This was all i had to work with due to the recession. I added 50 wheelbarrows until it was 18 inches high, and raised the beds either side to suit
