Tilia henryana
Looking very good.

I am not paranoid Rachel
Everyone covers their pond in bubble wrap. It seems to be working though as the heron was in the pond twice this morning before I put it up, and since then he has stayed in the field next door thinking out a counter move.

fran
I believe I owe someone a prize. It must be Fran, so if he would like to pick from these garden ornaments, to be set in concrete in his new garden area.

Are Dahlias climbers
This one, in a bed of short ones, grew to seven feet tall as it came up through a rose bush

Dive bomb
Here is another picture of the crow dive bombing the heron, for those of little faith.
29 September 2010 19:04:01

Trug
Deb bought me a trug for the garden, here is pup checking it out. Deb must think that I am a prickly person

Twine doesn't work
Just took this picture from the bedroom window, and look at the rascal he is on the pond side of the line. He is standing in the pond. :-( You can see that he has spotted me.
26 September 2010 22:17:55

The battle continues
Again and again we are harried by the persistant Heron who strikes daily, he is always there either our side or the other side of the hedge, how well we know those flapping wings and the law or diminishing returns that is reeking havoc with carrasius auratus. There is a lot of mud at the bottom of the pond so that any that have dived for cover therein will have difficulty getting back out of it and I am running out of twine. :-(
26 September 2010 22:08:44

Rhodohypoxis Bob Gordon
Or what is left of it, as pup decided to make a bed of it today

21 September 2010 21:27:21

Railway sleeper
This seat is made from an old railway sleeper. I have had it for ten years and before that it was a lintel in an old cottage window for 150 years, and before that it was under the railway lines probably when railways were first in existent, if you place your ear on the seat you can still hear the whoose of the steam engines and the laughter of children growing up. Before it was a sleeper it was a tree growing in our dear country and planted 300 years ago, and I am proud to own it now.
21 September 2010 21:19:26

Poor Heron
The poor misfortunate heron had no luck in our garden today so had to content himself with gazing at his reflection in the cattle water butt in the fleld beside us.
20 September 2010 22:15:40

An unwelcome visitor
Unlike Geraldine's. This was wandering around in the field beside us, planning and scheming to invade us. It must have noticed that Deb has cleared the water lilies off the pond. Pub you help is needed

Did not take any pictures in the garden today, so put this one up of the two of them on a steam train shortly after pup found the source of the river Thames. Will give you some good garden shots on friday to make up for it.

Lazy Martin
Lazy old Martin as Liga says. Not much done in the garden this month, just wanted to enjoy it. a group of 18 wanted to come this weekend but I have turned them down. Only going to open in June and July from now on and May and August for large groups. I asked Zoey to take Pup out of the picture, but I snapped off my shot before she had left the scene. Sorry about that I am sure that you have seen enough of that young lad. :-)

10 September 2010 23:17:46

Butterfly
We noticed a solitary butterfly on this flower today, which was the same as Fran put up yesterday except that the flower is different
09 September 2010 22:18:26

Garden idea for Fran
Fran, if you were half thinking of laying a railway track to theme your garden design, can i suggest making what looks like the front of an old steam engine and making out it is coming through the hedge. Here is pup posing for you. we wondered why he could not see to well until we invested in a scissors.
08 September 2010 13:30:54

Garden shot
Just took this 3 minutes ago, and see how the paths get narrow at this time of year, pup could hardly squeeze through. Normaly this would be a problem for us but with our garden closed for the season, Yeehaa! We can let it be :-)
