For Lady gaga, I mean gardener
Here is a pic of Gleditsia sunburst taken in June just gone, it is very hardy and unbelievably lovely. Planted this one in 1994

The right tool
Yes the steam engine fire shovel is in use again, I found it brilliant for digging out the correct amount of soil to put in half a dozen tulip bulbs together :-)

In flower
One of our bamboos is in flower. I gave a piece of this to Kindred 18 months ago so maybe his one is in flower too.

No room in the nest
The three chicks found the Golden nest of Monbreno, but it is occupied :-(

Steam engine coal shovel
I would recomend these shovels to all of you, it took such a short time to load many buckets full of shreddings and then to the compost heap that I only just caught the last one with the camera. The extra length and the high sides mean that it can take lots and the narrowness means that it all goes into the bucket. Can't wait to do more shredding

Bigger one
Here is another that I dug out yesterday along with two others. I planted them in a different part of the garden and planted a clematis with each one.

Some small tree ferns off to their eternal rest
Dug these darlings out yesterday, replacing them with ground ferns that I grew from spores

I am the only one up
get up you lot it is Friday not the weekend. I managed to get another sheet of clearish polythene and have now two layers over my tree fern poly, wish I had had two in place for all that cold stuff.

Pup
Tired last night and ready for bed I remembered to take pup out for his walk, alas the snow was several inches deep along the road and pup became frosted up with compacted snow. It took half a laborious hour to defrost him with the hair dryer. the sun is out today, I hope that it melts the wretched stuff as I hoped to do a lot of gardening.

Christmas present quiz uncovered
This might show you better. The answer has to be specific, not what it is called so much as what it is used for.

2010 shot for Geraldine and co.
the angle of the shot is a bit different as there is now a dense bed on where I took the shot. It was a lawn then, but the seat would be to the left of centre.

Hi Jacinta
Who else is there
03 January 2011 21:01:51

New bench circa 1997
Here it was behind the pond for much of its life before moving to the front garden and being painted cream

New bed
I removed a few huge shrubs and made a raised bed with our dead eucalyptus tree, and filled it in with the compost from our compost heap, and used it all up. Hope to plant a dozen ferns around the back and dot the odd one in and then let Deb plant some of her stuff
02 January 2011 09:25:43

Up to date photo
Geraldine Deb would have been standing centre picture. This is now a woodland so is hard to take a shot. Dick it would have been part of Paddy Hanon's acre. Will put it up in memories though it is not a good shot

Cleaning up the compost
Here is a picture that I took today. I was shovelling the compost into the tray on the right and this would sieve out all the rubbish and leave me with beautiful stuff to scatter on the garden after each bit is tidied up. See how much rubbish is in the crate, I get this amount out of every wheelbarrow load
