Looking at the world through Rose Tinted Glasses
This is planted in my WHITE bed. I was delighted when I got it. Rosa Iceberg. Had wanted it for ages. It is blooming now and is a beautiful rose, However either I am looking at it with rose tinted glasses or somebody got their labels mixed up because from my perpspective it definitely looks pink - So no idea what it is :-(

Philadelphus Coronarius - Mock Orange
Early spring 2011 I planted a tiny little Philadelphus Coronarius in the main bed in the middle of the back garden. It did nothing!!!! I thought it was dead. It is in the middle of the bed as I was hoping it would grow to a decent size- ha! When my sister was up we went looking for it as I wanted her to see if it was worth keeping - we couldn;t even find it amongst the masses of other stuff coming up BUT look what I discovered yesterday!!!! The plant itself is only about 1ft high and 6" of it is covered in flowers.
We had a huge one in the front garden of the house I grew up in "Borodale". I was just mad about it. Everytime I smell it- It just brings me right back. Happy times :-)
I am just DELIGHTED!!!

Speaking of Weigela...
as per the cover story in The Irish Garden. This is just a tiny bit of mine. It is 5ft of colour with masses of flowers. I am delighted with it!! The few days of heat that we have had has made things jump out of the ground :-) Just hope we don't regress now!!
By the way, I got an email this morning from Nissan Leaf to say I had won 4 tickets to Bloom. Don't know yet if they are date specified. Hope not, because I want to go on Saturday. The only down side is that I booked 4 tickets online on Sunday night :-(

As for the work this one out......
Last year I planted a Geum - Mrs. J. Bradshaw which duly flowered in a striking red.
This year either I have lost the plot or the plant has........
The flowers look supciously yellow??????????????
Hubby is sure I have lost it but the label with the picture is still on the plant :-0

Don't know how I missed it!!!
Husband is standing at the kitchen window. "Your rhubarb is shooting up" says he. I look at him wondering how he can see rhubarb from where he is. "Down at the compost area!" says he. "Eahhhh No- not there" So off I go to check it out. OMG look what has happened when I wasn't looking.............. My Gunnera, that I spent weeks digging out of my garden early last spring (as it was like a rain forest down there) had grown through a black sack and even has a flower on it!!!! LOL The tallest leaf is damaged - I guess this is from breaking through the black sack LOL
For anyone that grows Gunnera - you will know it has these huge rhizomes type things(of like turnip consistency) that sit on the surface of the soil. I had baged up mountains of it as my sister (Flitters) wanted to grow it at the stream at the end of her garden. I brought a boot load down to her and just left the rest to rot down in black bags.
I have removed the bags now as I guess I am just supposed to have it in my garden. LOL

It sure does need a bit of elbow room!! This is mine a couple of years ago!!! I have had to get rid of most of it last year as it was taking over the garden - but it is coming back!!! :-)

A building project!!!
Today at lunch time - when my kids started to arise from their pits, I said to Ruth (16) - you know what ?? "Gates are a shoking price,I think we should make one" So we did!!!! At a grand cost of €25.00 I think it does not look too shabby at all!! But then again - It couldnt look any worse and it has open slats - because it is a wind tunnel out there in the winter!!!
Ruth says we will accept orders!!!

Started but not sure where to go from here :-(
This beauty in my back garden was planted by the birds and I LOVE it. However, the roots are coming up across the lawn. Today I sawed off the root halfway across the garden and starting pulling- OOPS half the lawn is up as well!!! :-p I am trying to avoid having to take the tree down and putting rootkill on it!!! Any suggestions ??????

The Irish Garden arrived this morning - with free seeds too :-)) , as I would not know what to do with myself as Facebook is down for maintenance :-(
Seems like an very long time since the last one came.
Think I need a bigger garden :-( Hubby wants to know "Just WHERE are you going to plant all the stuff I bought yesterday??????" Not to worry - there is always room for more :-) I think he is worried that the borders are ever expanding and the lawn is ever decreasing LOL
