What a fab day - Started the day with a coffee sitting down at the end of the back garden in the sun planning what to do today!! Extended all the borders by about 6". Hubby making snide remarks about having no lawn left soon!! Must have neglected to tell him of masterplan. Oops!!
Finally planted my Japanese snowball - Lovely. Cut lumps (well all the lower branches) off the strawberry tree. Discovered later - totally wrong time of the year but hey- had to be done!!!! Had half the border in shadow and this is the really sunny-side.
Tied up and staked lads of stuff. Not nearly as many weeds in the back as was in the front. Edgings weren't - so to speak- totally overgrown. All lovely now.
It is still a beautiful evening !!! Maybe they will be wrong - Hope it is good next Saturday- Off to Blooms!!!

Out in my garden
Yippeeeee !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Spent the afternoon in the garden. Went out an did all that had to be done this morning so as soon as the rain cleared away - I was out. Thought I would tackle the front garden first. It was depressing the life out of me every time I drove in. Got a few weeds and stray grass out as you can see from the photo. How can a small garden grow such prolific weeds. Wish everything else would grow as well.
Now a question - Where have all the foxgloves gone?? Last year I had so many I was pulling them out like weeds. Among all the weeds and grass I found ONE.
Tomorrow is supposed to be a good day - so watch out back garden I am on my way!!!!
Have put up a few new photos,
A bit of sunshine - it makes you feel alive - doesn't it!!!

The bog!!!
If it does not stop soon - the rain/hail etc., I am going to have to look at planting up my back garden with Bog Plants. Am soooooooooooooooooooooooooo fed uppppppppppppppppp!!! Didn't write any journal for last 2 days as I refused to talk about the weather but what can I say???? Grass is so long now, I could nearly make hay - if I could ever get it cut. Weeds, slugs and my Gunnera are all happy - not me!!

Yesterday my sister bought me a beautiful Viburnum Mariesii - snowball. It is in flower and looks great. It is out on the deck under the gazebo - something may as well get use of it as we sure aren't. Got up this morning to unbelievable hailstones. So I am holding off planting it. Anyway not sure where best to put it yet. So for the moment, I am just enjoying looking at it out the kitchen window. Better than planting it out to have it wrecked- I think!!!

Went for a look around the garden this evening - that's all I had time for - Anyway, just looking and enjoying is as important - in my books anyway - as doing. Back to the point - My Pear tree is looking good - Leaves haven't curled and fruit buds seem to be forming - probably should not have said anything- will most likely give up the ghost and die now - but since I planted it, I have never been this far along - So fingers crossed -
Apple and Plums do so well - cant figure this Pear at all
Will keep you updated

Watch out Blooms Mon and her sister are on their way!!!

Not exactly doing what it says on the tin.......
So to speak!
Remember when we bought the new gazebo and I planted up the corner planters with climbers - Well one was Romantica. A beautiful deep purple flower - so says the discription and the picture. Not exactly what I got. Dont know what type of Clematis it is- I am not complaining though as it is very beautiful - Just curious. I have uploaded some photo's of it and label. If I hadn't of kept the label, I would have thought I was loosing the run of myself!!!!! Maybe it is a SIGN.

Best Buddies- Ben and Cillian
When your 10 - Happiness is bouncing and playing wrestling on your trampoline!! So we donned the waders - well wellies and raincoats and off we went this morning to put it up. To be honest Tom had it mostly done before I came to supervise!!! The safety net was the most difficult bit - what can I say - he couldn't have done it without me. Just as we were securing the last section - hey presto - the rain stopped.
As you can see from the photo's - a huge success!!!

Ben bought a trampoline a week ago. Now the natives are getting restless as it is still in the box. Wont stop raining long enough to put it up. Tom says it will be found half a mile away if we put it up in those winds.
When I can go out to the garden without rain gear and waders, I will let you know how things are. I do know the grass really, really needs to be cut and saw more dandelions whilst running to and from the car.
How do you tell when its Summer in Ireland??
The rain feels slightly warmer !!!

Put up a few photo's taken in the wind and rain this evening

Standard Lavender - Thanks John
Have been waiting 2 days now for a bit of sunshine to take a photo of my new Standard Lavender that my brother brought me at the weekend. It was a truly horrible day yesterday and not much better today. The only time the sun came out today, I was at work. Sitting here at the computer looking out - It looks more like October than May. The wind is so bad at the moment , I am wondering if I should take the roof off the gazebo. My washing line is already down. Lifted the two cement blocks right out of the ground. Crazy. Everything is growing like mad. All we need now is a bit of sunshine and a bit less wind.

Is it just me or is anyone else plagued with Dandelions this year. My heart is broken with them.Spent ages today going around with a big knife digging them out but they just seem to be multiplying before my eyes!!
The best part of my day today was spent in the garden centre. It was my best friends birthday yesterday and because she has started gardening and cooking in the last year so I decided to make her a herb garden.Bought every herb we could find in the garden centre and spent the evening planting them up into big pots and troughs. They look so cool!!!! She has a big big garden. I spend my time trying to talk her into putting in a herb garden and veggie bed. Maybe this pressie will persuade her!!
