Acidanthera - At Last!!!
I planted 60 Acidanthera both in pots and all around the garden. Got plenty of leaves but then nothing. I had almost given up on them but in one of the pots I got flowerheads forming - not a sign of a flower on all 57 others.
Started opening today - So pretty!!

Fuchsia - Alive and well and living in Kells!!!
Earlier this year we took out a huge Fushsia that was dead, or so we thought until it was almost all dug up and we found a tiny green leaf. I dont think it would ever have recovered but it was a beautiful shrub and I was sad to see it go. So I stuck back down a piece of root.
Lo and behold it is back again and in flower. Happy days!!!!
And what a day!!!! Easily know it was back to school day!!!

First attempt at Blackberry Jam
Went out yesterdy for an hour around the green and picked Blackberries. Got 4kg of them with no bother. Seems to be a bumper crop this year. I wonder does that mean we are in for another hard winter?
Anyway, I then picked some apples from my apple tree and made Blackberry and Apple pies and Jam. This is my first attempt at Blackberry jam and I am really pleased with the results. Can't get much more organic then that LOL :-)

'Borodale'
For Mothers Day this year I was looking for something a bit different for my mum, and to say that she really doesn't need more "things" is the understatement of the year. I found this site on line called "pressieport.ie" and on it they had this gift of "Name your own Rose" My mum has always been a very keen, talented gardener and I knew she would enjoy this. They sent her a beauiful presentation box with un-named seeds with all the details of how to grow your rose bush and register it . ( I had never known that you could get Rose seeds- but I guess they have to come from somewhere!!LOL) We never really expected anything to happen with it - But lo and behold!!! She has 5 rose bushes that are flowering. You send them back your name for your rose and it is entered into the International Naming Registry which is entered into the British Library.
My mum named her rose "Borodale" which was the name of our family home where we all grew up and has a special place in our hearts - just like her :-)
Will put up a couple more photos in an album.

I assume it will be more or less like the peas. They are everywhere. Heading over the side wall of the house. People will be able to pick up some beans for their dinner as they walk by the house!! A garden full of salad !!!!
A couple of weeks ago when I was in Aldi I bought their Living Salad. After we had cut and used most of it I stuck the rest into a gap in the veg garden that the beetroot had come out of. We now have a garden full of salad leaves. We have grown our own cucumber and peppers - all we are waiting for is the tomatoes to turn red. Best value salad ever!!!

Summer Samba!!
On Saturday I got unceremoniously turfed out of bed and told to hit the shower cause he (TOM) was taking me out!!!! WHAT??? You couldn't see me for dust.
Firstly he took me to Kilsaran to see the Kilsaran lifestyles display that he had heard advertised on the radio. The have several gardens all laid out and planted up. Now they are there to sell you the hard landscaping but the planting is lovely and we had a great time . Poor sales guy - I was only interested in the planting!!!
Across directly from this is Plantagen!!! Oh wow!!! I could have spent all day in it. And the staff there realy knew what they were talking about!!!!!And wanted to talk plants/gardens to you!!! And the qyuality of the plants and how they were looked after!!! Enough to say I was in heaven!! Bought a few plants - WELL you would HAVE to - Wouldn't you!!! Here is one of them Pennisetum setaceum - Summer Samba - A fountain grass. It is truly stunning!!! Cant stop looking at it myself!!!
