Sheltered from the Wind

Thankfully these lupins are sheltered from the wind by the garage, these are my favourite colour!

--- no thankfully not me! Lupins have taken a hammering though but alas there is always next year!

Mystery is Unfolding

Mystery is Unfolding

Mystery is Unfolding

I thought my mystery Clematis was going to be pink, maybe Dr. Ruppel, but it is not, it's purple, I am looking it has not blown away before I could see what it is!

A surprise in store

A surprise in store

A surprise in store

I bought this Clematis three years ago in Aldi, I did not have anywhere to climb it against so it stayed neglected in it's pot for months and the label blew away (I always keep labels!).  It eventually got planted in a place where the lawnmower chopped it up more times than I can say.  Last Autumn we moved the arch to a safer place where I planted the root of the Clematis not thinking I would ever see it again.

And yes it faithfully appeared but I cannot remember what Clematis it is.  If I was to guess I would say I bought a Dr. Ruppel as I had a fabulous one in my last garden.

Everyday I go out to see if it has opened to find out what it is so I will let you know when it does!

PS I have had no flowers on it since I bought (due to neglect!)

Tiarella 'Pink Skyrocket'

Tiarella 'Pink Skyrocket'

This is a plant I got from Johnstown Garden Centre in Feb 2010 when Rachel and I put in an order by post.  It looked dead as dodo when I got it and it barely showed that it was alive last summer!

This year I am more than happy with it's progress.  I know nothing about this plant.  Can I split in in years to come or how can I propagate it further?

Aquilegia

Aquilegia

It looks like you all had a brilliant day yesterday in Birr, am mad jealous!  Lots of goodies bought and exchanged, I was sorry I could not make it but hope I will catch up with you all at the next get together.

The photo is of a white Aquilegia I bought in Donegal two years ago.  It is a prolific self seeder, especially when your daughter opens the seed heads and spreads it around her flower bed.  Any takers - are you brave enough??????

I think the Pulsatilla Seeds heads are almost as nice as the flowers themselves!

I bought 2 'Specks Orange' Azaleas recently.  They were not in flower so am really pleased with the outcome and have put them in a new border along the hedgerow.
