Helenium

This Helenium gives a great show and is quite tall, nearly 5 ft!  Usually as they are so tall and not well staked they blow over in high wind.  I am lucky this year that they have not been blown over!

I have these along the front of my Annuals Border, they look great in Masse

Echinacea

Echinacea

I think Fran asked the question during the week about Echinacea.  I have a few Echinacea around the garden now, I have about 3 different colours I do not know the individual varieties, they are all pink and mostly grown from seed!  Highly recommend them, bees love them and yes they do bulk up well and divide well after a year or two.

Monarda Bees Favourite

This is the Monarda close up.  Rachel grew it last year from seed and gave me 3 plants which I loved and I collected the seed from them and grow 10 more and put them around my new circle.  They smell lovely and guess what the bees love them!

Dwarf Sunflowers

Would highly recommend growing these Dwarf Sunflowers - seed from Lidl - I grew them last year and collected the seed for this year so I will collect more this year for anyone who wants some.  They have been flowering for weeks.

New Circle

New Circle

This was one of my problem areas around a circle of cement in the middle of the back garden which contains the sewage pump (tmi)!  It was ugly and I have tried to hide it with a flower bed around it.  In it are baby box hedges taken from cuttings - which hopefully will eventually be tall enough to hide it all together.  But in the meantime I also put some dwarf sunflowers and Monarda Bees Variety around it.  Photo not the best but I am pleased with the overall effect.

I probably should know but could you tell me the name of this tall fern often found in hedgerows and along coasts?

Rachel?

Rachel?

Rachel?

Rachel is this the plant that you gave me earlier in the year that is an indoor plant, certainly looks like it.  You will see a better photo in my Dordogne album.  They had the plant outdoors in a pond!

I probably should know but....

...what is this beauty, is it a magnolia?  I took it on holidays in the Dordogne in France by the swimming pool (see photo in my new album).  These shubs/trees were growing all over the place, in towns as trees or in gardens as shrubs.  They were gorgeous.

Sorry for not writing for so long but have been very busy with work since I came back from France and have been reading lots of journals but not writing I am afraid!

Rachel thank you sooo much for opening your garden again to us, it is looking better than ever,  the edges imaculate and not a weed in sight.  Shame about the rain but it did not stop anyone having a good look around and as for all the cake, thank you everyone.
