Is that your garden also ages. And all the work one puts in is not in vain. each year sees a little multiplication of plants of bulbs of blossom. That rhodo you put in twenty years ago is still going strong, That magnolia susan has just started to bloom, those rocks have mellowed and become partly mossed, this is not intended as a self congratulatory piece but rather a thank you to the garden for growing and developing. Just at present its the rockery that is giving me so much joy and having weeded the border of the lower lawn the two are combining beautifully, And then if I get to a little border below the lawn that will tie in well, Theres to be rain tomorrow and that will settle things in. I nearly lost nine small white roses today , then remembered them and they were there and healthy and smothered with grass and goose grass. So i was glad to rescue them and just as I did I looked up and the purple azaeleas were getting ready to show off their rich purple flowers, I didnt expect them this year as there was no sign of buds a few days ago! And they are about thirty years old! Whats not to enjoy? Photos are of rhodos. the first was bought opposite japanes Gardens long ago and took ten years before it flowered. Worth the wait. The last is Blue peter-dont mind the title under it i couldnt change it. bought from Corona North about thirty five years ago. I have two I bought from her and they look very natural in the scrub as they are close to the wild version in appearance.
