It takes a generous person to open their garden to the public for the enjoyment of others. Here Garden.ie lists about 300 gardens open for visiting, some year-round, others by appointment, and be sure to phone ahead.

Derrymore House is an eighteenth century, cottage-style house and demesne now owned by the National Trust. You can walk along the driveway towards the yellow, thatched cottage and along tracks within the demesne. Pass between grassy pastures and the beautiful planted woodland of the estate grounds.
