Gardens Open

It takes a generous person to open their garden to the public for the enjoyment of others. Here Garden.ie lists about 300 gardens open for visiting, some year-round, others by appointment, and be sure to phone ahead.

Our one acre garden is slightly elevated with panoramic views over the surrounding rolling countryside. The garden is themed around naturally occurring grey/blue rock formations (with thriving succulents), dry stone boundary and internal walls which facilitate all types of naturally occurring lichens and ferns. Acidic soil facilitates
spectacular, early season Camellia, Rhododendron, Azalea and Magnolia. We have roses and various mixed borders which give great colour from April to October, with spectacular tree lilies in July. Hydrangea and Dahlias feature in August. The
central focus of the garden is the fish pond with mature plantings. There is an adjacent bog area with Iris and Hosta. The woodland area has ferns and a very special Dicksonia antarctica (Tree Fern). Other features include a platform tree-house from which there are interesting views and perspectives and an Aviary with many happy tropical finches.
