If you go to this address in our Know-how section, you will find lots about laying paving.

You can lay paving over a concrete path, on a bed of wet sand-and-cement mortar, as described. But make sure the foundation base for the continuation of the paving away from the path is solid so that it does not sink by comparison with the solidity of the concrete path.

Paving slabs can be cut with an agle grinder, which can be hired, or more laboriosly with a hammer and cold chisel, although the latter needs a bit of practice. Any reasonably good DIYer can lay paving.
