Basil Disease???

Ellen O\’Neill asked 16 years ago

I have a basil plant growing in a pot on my kitchen windowsill above the sink. it has developed a mottled pattern on the leaves, light brown in patches. there are micorscopic black dots all over the leaves the size of a pin head (like finely ground black pepper). the leaves are whithering. what is wrong with the plant.

Basil is not a year-round plant ..without artificial light. It invariably starts to look bad as the light closes in. And if the condtions at the roots are either too dry or too wet, this deteriroration will be more marked.
