Im making a new bed. I hear that it’s better to plant in spring if you live in the north. The bed is on the top of a hill and exposed to wind. What plants could be planted now or should I wait?

Autumn is the best time to plant anywhere because winter rain settles the plants in, but an exposed spot is an exception.

There is a chance that shrubs could be rocked and damaged by soil ringing of the stems before they settle and would be best left until spring, but you could plant herbaceous perennials now as they are low and mostly die back anyway for winter.
