Bird seed germinating in flower beds

I feed the garden birds, but most of the trees strong enough to hold feeders overhang my flower beds; the seed the birds drop while feeding falls into the beds and hey presto long tough grass sprouts up among my plants. What can I do, Gerry, Please

Bird seed is composed of a mixture of grains of various kinds, such as cereals, grasses and legumes, most of which are not native to Ireland.

All sorts of things can spring up and you can either leave them to grow and see what they look like, before removing them, or chop them out when they come up if  you don’t  like the look of them!
