I’m putting in new beds at the moment. Our site is very windy, even on a summer’s day. I am looking for a small feature shrub/tree (with as much year-long interest as possible) for the edge of a bed close to the patio and house. I’m debating between Cornus alternifolia ‘Argentea’ and Viburnum plicatum ‘Mariesii’. Which has more to offer?

They are both reasonably wind-resistant and the viburnum is more showy during its flowering period but the cornus is the more elegant all year round.
