A new canna in pot in garden over summer did v well now in cold greenhouse do i cut back ? or just leave dry ?

Canna is fine in a cold greenhouse in most winters but would have been damaged or killed last year without some frost protection, even in a greenhouse.
The withered top can be cut back and allow the compost to dry out almost completely and take off the ground if the weather turns cold or bring into a shed or garage while it lasts.
