Capsid bug on runner beans

MARY AHERN asked 16 years ago
Our runner bean crop is riddled with what appears to be casid bug damage , plants are about 30cm now and 60% of leaves are very badly effected. How can we get rid of the problem?(French beans elsewhere in the garden are fine)

The damage is definitely caused by capsid bugs, but the problems with this pest is that the damage is usually done unnoticed and the tattered leaves then grow out.

If you approach very slowly you might see the little slender beetles. But they have probably gone. A dust of derris will give control.
