citrus trees

Rita Walsh asked 12 years ago

I have 3 citrus trees – Lemon, Lime and Orange. Presently the leaves of the lemon tree are going yellow and falling off at an enormous rate. The other two trees not so much. I have tried tomato feed as I am finding it hard to get citrus feed locally. Any ideas?

Citrus trees can lose leaves for a variety of reasons… too much or too little water, excessive feeding, pest attack especially scale insects, chilling at night.

They need to be kept frost-free, in good bright light, slightly dry at the compost surface from Ocotber to April, nicely moist otherwise, Feed only from April to September and use a citrus feed or acid-lovers feed such as Miracid.

Lime causes iron deficiency and yellowing of the young leaves.
