Ten Year old cherry blossom. stopped flowering, looks dead , with only a few small leaves in summer. What can I do? Can it be saved? was a bit of root damage nearby but surely that is not the reason?

Cherry trees are usually quite tough and would survive minor root damage, but it is possible that a fungal root rot disease got in and caused more damage.

Leave it be until next spring and if there is no sign of new growth by then, it is gone. Nothing else to be done, no feeding.
