Fast growing, frost proof hedge?

Sandra Duff asked 13 years ago

Would you recommend a name of a fast growing hedge and one that would stand up against the winters we are having of late?

Common laurel is good, and yew is too if there are no grazing animals about. Green holy is very robust.

Or beech or hawthorn as good deciduous hedges. Hornbeam for heavy land.
