I have a Pieris and a Rhododenron growing for two years but they are not thriving very well, what would be the best feed for them.

There are various reasons why shrubs do not grow well, apart from shortage of nutrients. This can be due to waterlogged soil, very dry soil, root competition, wind exposure or shade.
Neither of these shrubs is a heavy feeder and a mulch of rotted leaves is fine.
