Fertilizer for Lawn

Ciaran Healy asked 13 years ago

I have a 16 month lawn however its a bit yellow and not growing quickly, I was looking at putting down a fertilizer but don’t know what one to get, also it is quite a large area and would need around 30 – 40kgs. Where is the best place to buy this amount?

Lawns have been suffering drought in many areas as the patchy rain has not always been enough but it is very common for a new lawn to turn yellow, unless fertiliser was applied before sowing.

On a large area, it is possible to use agricultural fertilisers, and 10-10-20 or similar is suitable for autumn use, and high nitrogen in the spring and summer, if needed.

30g per square metre is enough, and only when rain is expected.
