I have recently acquired an allotment & would really like to plant some small fruit trees or bushes. There is no issue planting same. I would like a recommendation as to what grows well in north Co Dublin soil & climate, plus where are the best places to purchase.

Soft fruit such as blackcurrants, red currants, strawberries, raspberries, autumn raspberries, and perhaps apples on dwarfing rootstock, pears too.

These trees could be trained as espaliers or cordons along a fence boundary. Space is limited and you will need to limit the number of kinds, bushes and their size.

Most garden centres stock fruit bushes. Strawberries and raspberries are the quickest to crop and the most temporary.
