greenfly on beech hedging

paschal dempsey asked 16 years ago

Hi Gerry, In recent years my copper beech hedge (which was planted in 1998) has had some greenfly but I’ve never been worried enough to spray. However this year the hedge and my next door neighbours green beech are alive with greenfly, just wondering should i spray and what to spray with…thanks, Paschal

Beech hedges are often infested with greenflies and this can cause die-back and poor growth, but usually plenty of ladybirds and other predators restore the balance.

If this is not happening, consider spraying with an insecticide such as Hygeia Greenfly spray, whih is a systemic insecticide.
