growing primulas

We have put a pond in our garden. I want to plant primulas around the pond ,do i need to dig out the soil and line with polythene or just plant them around the pond?

Primulas like moist soil and this can be created by an overflow from a pond, if water is passed into from the house roof.

They will grow in most soils, but not well if the soil is dry.

Otherwise dig out an area of soil where you want to grow them. Make it about 20cm deep and line with any kind of polythene sheeting and make some holes to draina excess water and back fill with soil and garden compost.
