ann kennedy asked 14 years ago
I am a fan of heathers and am disabled. i would like to grow a few variations in a limited colour scheme and have some colour over winter and also again in summer. I plant to plant out a few pots of various heights and sizes, maybe six or eight in number. when would i plant up and what suggestions of ‘make’ (!) you can tell i am a beginner.

Heathers are best not planted in mixed groups. They are best used as single plants in borders or on banks to provide colour at different times of year, calluna in late summer and autumn, erica in spring. Or they could be planted as small groups of 3 or 5, but in larger groups of mixed varieties, they tend to take from each other.
