There is no common hedge that likes wet soil. Hornbeam tolerates heavy land and holly is tolerant of heavy soil but not wet soil.

If water gathers in a hole and stays there it is too wet for these trees. Alder is tolerant of wet soil and could be made into a rough hedge.
