Gerry,New lawn 1 year old, horses left holes around the garden , I was going to mix good quality top soil with sand and lawn mix and fill the holes with this , and scatter some more seed on top of this , my question is , would this be a good solution to the problem and can I use builders sand , Thank you

SImply fill a wheel barrow with ordinary soil, nothing need be added. Hit each pock mark hard with the back of a shovel to flaten the edges and part-fill the hole, ideally when the soil is soft. If not, chop the raised edges into the hole.

Fill with soil and scatter some seed over each, or leave it and the surrounding grass with soon grow over it.
