The food plant is a good indicator of which kind, the cabbage types sticking mainly to the cabbage family and the cutworms have wider tastes. Cutworms can be found at soil level and are usually few in number and can be removed. The others, if too numerous, might need to treated with caterpillar spray.
Gerry, I am trying to figure out what kind of caterpillar I have chewing up my vegetable plants. They are fat green ones with white strips on their sides, any help would be appreciated.
There are various caterpillars that may be green with white stripes, such as cabbage white caterpillars, cabbage moth caterpillars and various kinds of cutworms.
