Kiwi Jenny leaves falling

Kathleen Foy asked 13 years ago

Why are the leaves falling from the bottom upwards on my Kiwi ‘Jenny’ This is the 4th year of growth and is currently 10 foot in height. I have sown in large pot in sunny location and watered. Grew very well during few good weeks but now all leaves are falling since the weather changed. Does this mean it will die as I it was a very sentimental gift and would be very disappointed to loose it at this stage. I fed with Growmore pellets a few weeks ago.

It sounds like you have overdone the fertilizer during a time when the plant was aleady under stress with warm dry weather. Water heavily a few times to wash out excess salts and do not feed until new growth is vigorous and then only liquid feed to a pot that is already well moist.
