laurel hedging

rose savage asked 13 years ago

I planted 50 laurels in novmeber. they were 3-4ft. they got damaged from the frost and now all the leaves seem to be falling off. some are brown and others are prefectly green that fall off. do i need to prune them yet or could they be dying.65 also do leaves grow back when they fall off.

Laurel is reasonably hardy but last winter was exceptionally cold and young plants are far more liable to frost damage than those mature. They are also most vulnerable to damage just after planting out.

Keep them free of weeds and you will know within a few weeks in nay new growth is made, and whether replacements are necessary.
