Mildew/grey fungus on onions

recently picked onions have a little milldew on the inner skin what has caused this . I suppose there is no cure for this year . How can i prevent this happening next year?

This is probably botrytis fungus more than mildew. This often happens in a wet summer and causes staining of the skin and may shorten storage life.

Try to get onions to dry out as much as possible at harvest. Ideally, they should bed dried and ripened off in a greenhouse.
