Plum Disease

Phil Darcy asked 15 years ago

Every year some of my Victoria plums get a fungus like scab, shrival up and then fall off the tree. I know I’m too late for this yearI but I was wondering if you could tell me if there is anything I can do to avoid this problem next year.

That is brown rot disease, more common in a wet year. Pick off the affected fruits when you see them to reduce spread and gather all fallen fruit and bury the affected ones to try to reduce transfer. Also remove mummified fruit in winter.
