Problem with Cherry Tomatoes

siobhan ryan asked 16 years ago

Hi Gerry. I successfully sowed ‘Gardeners Delight’ and had many plants happily growing in my conservatory, getting watered every day and fed roughly once a week. However, in the last few wks the growing stems have started to grow in a funny way. They have swollen and become almost white. It is like they have become stunted and look rather ugly. The flowers that were developing have not come on and I cannot find any disease that could describe what has happened. Are they done for??

That damage looks like weedkiller damage to which tomatoes are extremely sensitive. Possible contamination of a watering can.
