Ammonium sulphamate, sold under the brand name of Root out was withdrawn in 2007 because it was banned for use as a weedkiller by the EU. It was quite effective against ivy.

The best way to get rid of ivy is to physically remove it, but this might be difficult over a large areas or for reasons of access. Roundup knocks it back but it recovers. Brushwood killer diluted with paraffin is effective.
