Pauline Hyland asked 13 years ago

Has anyone ever seen a garden daisy like this?? my ‘nature expert’ 10 year old daughter found it on easter Sunday among normal daisies. i have it in water now… any tips in how I can preserve it better as it may be of interest to botanical experts?

This is called fasciation … when a shoot or flower doubles up several times to give a flattened stem.

It is an interesting curiosity, a malfunction of natural control of cell division and differentiation in the growing point, and  but not very rare.
