i was given a single rose after president obamas speech in college green on monday, can i try and re root it,or how can i preserve it, would greatly appreciate your advice.

Cut off the flower and make a cutting about pencil length. Dip the base in rooting powder.
Then insert the cutting in a pot of compost make of 2 parts peat and 1 part sand or vermiculite. Water it to dampen the compost. And cover with a white plastic bag held with a rubber band around the pot.
Place in a bright place but not in direct sunshine.
Wait until there are signs of new growth and take off the plastic.
