Rhodonendrons Dying

Ronan Lockhart asked 15 years ago

Over the past two years two rhododendrons have died – one established and one new plant. Both were planted in correct compost and I fed regularly with ericaceous plant food. Leaves curled and sagged and eventually fell from plants – buds turned brown. Two camellias did the same.I suspect root and crown rotCould i be correct Thanks

There are a range of possibilities … the roots might have dried out and were watered too late, or the roots might have been scorched with too much feed when dry, or the roots might have been too wet and got root rot, or the roots simply died by being waterlogged.
