Rosa Kiftsgate

Collins Eileen asked 13 years ago
Several years ago I planted R. Kiftsgate at the base of an old oak tree at our gate and its now making a lovely show of flowers and hips. The trouble is I have recently read several references to the extraordinary vigour of this plant and am worried it could eventually overwhelm the oak. I would appreciate your advice.

Rosa ‘Kiftsgate’ is a very vigorous rose and it can climb quite high, but a lot depends on the circumstances, for instance, the soil at the base of the oak might be dry and reduce the vigour of the rose.

Keep an eye on it and if it gets too big, cut some stems.
