Roundup can be used at any time of year, but is most effective when there is some growth and especially towards the end of summer when it is deeply absorbed in the weed plant.

Be careful not to get Roundup on the bark or foliage of young trees or shrubs as it can severely damage them, although they usually grow out after a year or so.

You can use Casoron G granules around the base of young trees or hedges whent he leaves are off, but ideally before the end of January. It controls existing weeds and also germinating and dormant weeds for a year.
